WordCamp Curitiba 2012 — 2 days of intensive discussions, presentations and networking, among Brazilian WordPress enthusiasts. The event happened last week-end and the organizers have already submitted an event report, which we will expand and publish next week, right here on WP Realm.

bbPress 2.1 Beta 1 — The forums plugin has reached Beta 1, and includes many enhancements and fixes (here’s the list of closed tickets for this release). The development team is aiming to release bbPress 2.1 by the end of June, based on how the beta period goes. The more help they get with testing and fixing bugs, the sooner the final version ships. If you want to help with the translation, it’s right here.
BuddyPress 1.6 Beta 1 — The developers need some feedback from BuddyPress plugin authors, theme designers, or those who manage BuddyPress sites. Leaflet Maps Maker — allows you to pin, organize & show your favorite places through OpenStreetMap on your blog and via different APIs on external websites or apps. Made in Austria, by Robert Harm, who has set up his own installation of GlotPress, should you want to contribute to the translation.
BuddyPress Check Ins — A plugin that uses HTML5 Geolocation API to add checkins to BuddyPress profile or group updates. Created by Imath, whose blog (in French) is well worth reading for those interested in BuddyPress.
Facebook for WordPress — The official Facebook plugin enables you to make your site social in a couple of clicks, no coding is needed. It has a wide range of functionality, including support for internationalization and mobile, and is WordPress.com VIP approved.
Photocrati buys NextGen — Photocrati, makers of WordPress solutions for photographers to show and sell their work, has acquired NextGEN Gallery, the single most popular gallery management plugin for WordPress with over 5 million downloads. The acquisition is part of an effort to consolidate the best WordPress solutions for photographers under one roof.
